Reserch and Planning: Analysis of teaser trailer
Media language
There is a build up of sound taking place in the background to build tension and there is also a voice over of a girl whilst the trailer progresses. There is lots of fast cutting taking place throughout the trailer to build the action level up and to also make the trailer seem more scary in the long run. There is lots of fast cutting throughout the scene and jump cuts to shock the audience and add to he effect and make the audience want to watch the film. There are lots of props and costumes used in the scene and makeup such as fake blood, to make the clip seem more realistic.
Audience
The film is rated as a 15
Its genre is horror
So therefore it will attract people interested in horrors and supernatural thrillers, generally aimed at older audiences.
Representation
The film 'The ring' has a supernatural edge to it so supernatural spirits and people involved with them are being represented in this trailer, the film is generally aimed at older audiences because of its content. This film represents women as stronger than males, as the woman is the hero in it.
Narrative
The film is a supernatural horror which is about a videotape where if you watch it you will die in 7 days, some aspects of this are shown in the trailer, which give clues to the audience and make them want to watch it. Them main themes in the trailer are horror and fear of death, and the consequences of doing certain things. It is structured with a girl talking as a voice over the scene but it flashes back to her sometimes.
Genre
The genre of the film is horror, you can tell because of the actions, props, setting and theme of the trailer.

Research and Planning: Regulations
For my film teaser trailer i will also need to decide on a age rating for my film so my audience know a little more about the content and the audience my film is aimed at. The BBFC rate films based on content and what age this would be suitable.
My films genre is horror, so the rating will definable be above a 12 at the least a 15 age rating. I would like my film to be rated a 15 because it wont be too gory and wont be sexually explicit however there will be some horror scenes included and some bad language (nothing to extreme) that wont be suitable for young people under the age of 15.
However as my film teaser trailer progresses if the content I decide on changes in any way I will consider moving my rating up to an 18 so its suitable for the appropriate audiences.

Research And Planning: Genre
In this section of my blog I am going to research four Genres and discuss them. I am going to tell you a little more about the main features of the Genres and the types of films they are (using examples). The Genres I am going to research are; Action, Horror, Romance and Thriller.
Action
Where a series of Heros are faced with a number of challenges that they must overcome, usually protecting another character. They often include guns and weapons used by both the Hero and Villain in battle. Examples of Action films include; Die hard, Charlie's Angles.

Horror
Horrors are unsettling films that bring out peoples fears and force them to feel different emotions. Many Horror films include a lot of tension and build up to a murder or event. They often make the viewer jump or startled. Films include; The Exorcist, Scream trilogy and Frankenstein.

Romance
Shows the romantic relationship on screen between two people who normally encounter problems along the way (long distant relationships) that they have to overcome. Romance films normally end happily and sometimes have an emotional effect on the audience. Films include; P.S I love you, Love Actually.

Thriller
Many thrillers have a mystery behind them and often have the audience trying to work out what's going to happen and who the villan is. Thrillers are like action films accept they make us jump more, they are at the halfway point between horrors and action films. Films include; Flightplan, and When a stranger calls.
