How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Blogger
I used blogger to add posts showing you all the research and planning stages through the progression of my trailer, magazine and poster. I used it to show location recces, audience feedback, the genre and I also published posts from youtube showing the different uses and how I copied other trailers. I also used it to publish posts about the weather and when we can film and also group meetings and actor release forms. I found blogger useful because you can publish a post anywhere and its quick and easy to use and you can acsess it anywhere.
Prezi
I used it for my publication plan, I found it easy to use and quick and more enjoyable to use than PowerPoint and it flows well, and because its shown in video form I could embed it to my blogger so its easy to view.
I-Movie
I used I movie to create my trailer, its useful to edit my trailer add text and sound to it and also change the volume and add effects, its good because you could import your filming on to it and put/add it on to your trailer straight away, so its quick and efficient. I also moved my trailer over to garage band and added my own sounds and music to my trailer and then moved it back over to I movie to complete my trailers sound.
Powerpoint
I used PowerPoint to do my pitch this was where we used PowerPoint to present our initial ideas for our teaser trailer. We used PowerPoint last year but I much prefer blogger this year as you can access it from anywhere and its quicker and easier to use.
Garage Band
I used Garage Band for my podcasts for question two, which was useful because you can record over your trailer so people can actually see what your talking about whilst your saying it. I also used it to create music for my trailer using different sounds pressing keys on the on-screen keyboard and recording it over my trailer then moving it back over to I movie.
Photoshop
I used Photoshop to create my magazine and poster, I found it useful for adding effects, pictures, texts and text boxes and also for cutting pictures out and also the layers were useful in creating more of a professional look for them. I used Photoshop for my music magazine last year so I already knew how to work it and what to do, it also helped me improve my skills and create a better magazine/poster.
SLR camera and Videocamera
We used the SLR cameras to take pictures for our Magazine and Posters because they are of a much better quality and don't blur, you can also change the lighting settings on them and other features. We used video cameras to film our footage for our trailer, they are also of a high quality and visible footage and can be imported easily on to I movie.

Evaluation: Question 1
In what ways does your media products use, develop and challenge forms and conversions of real media products?
Trailer
Use
. We have used ideas such as sound/shot types/ sound effects from the strangers- this helped us construct our trailer and which editing effects to use.
. We added subtitles such as 'What happens when one person just cant let go'- to tell the audience whats happening and where the film is going.
. We looked at different trailers to give us inspiration for the music in our trailer- and also where to put it, we also used sound in our filming.
Develop
. We filmed a chunk of our trailer down at the train station due to atmosphere- also it helps create suspense and highlights the genre more
. We also filmed near a church yard to give a scary effect of her running- another scary location
. We filmed the toilet scene where she finds 'Bitch' written on the mirror- typical conventions of other horror films.
Challange
. We created a stalker board to clearly highlight to the audience that she is being stalked- shows images of sophie in different locations and also more about him
. We filmed from his point of view, showing him following her- showing the film from his perspective and showing he is the villain, and sophie the victim.

Magazine
Use
. I modeled my magazine of Empire magazine, as it is shown below- gave me initial ideas for my magazine and where to put the headline/pictures.
. We looked at the different fonts and colour schemes the magazines used- to help me pick the colors I want to use.
. We also looked at layout, such as the heading/layout and also the pictures and where they're put- to help me locate my own pictures
Develop
. I used the idea of him holding a camera- to show he's stalking her/stalker board.
. I were also creative in choosing the 'Obsession' font- typewriter style, to add the 'stalker' effect.
. I was creative in choosing the colour for the background- faded out black effect, and also the shine from the camera.
Challenge
. I reflected a picture of sophie in the lens of the camera so it appears as if he's filming her
. The situation of the barcode and issue number- I located them in different places to what you would normally see, to fit in with my other pictures/text.

. I looked at some of the layouts of different magazines- to help me model my own and to give me inspiration for my own poster.
. I looked at colour schemes- of other posters, looking specifically at the horror genre.
. Shot angles- to help me take my pictures.
Develop
. We used the idea of sticking to three main colors- to keep the poster consistent and so it doesn't look messy
. Him stood with his back, hiding his identity- to give the film some misery.
. The Obsession colour/font- conventions of the horror genre.
Challenge
. The stalker board in the background faded out shows where the film is going- also to show its an important aspect in the trailer/magazine/poster.
. The colour's of the actors names- sophie, white. Adrian, red. Good/bad.

Research and Planning: test shot
These are some of the test shots for my poster and magazine, I'm not going to be using them however I uploaded them just to show the progress we mad. I am not going to be using these images because they are not well suited to what we are doing, for example the poses she is pulling look more annoyed than scared.

Research and Planning: Analysis of sound teaser trailer
The scene start off with the phone ringing, which straight away builds tension (Diegetic sound). Then when the girl is finished talking to the killer on the phone and she realises she isn't alone, the mood music builds (Non-diegetic sound) up to create tension, then a huge smashing sound is herd as a chair is thrown through the window. (Diegetic sound). Then the girl screams (Diegetic sound) then the scene cuts and moves on to what the rest of the film is about. A voice over can then be herd commentating more about the film (Non-diegetic) and as the scene progresses the mood music builds up (Non Diegetic) and inbetween shots a thunder bolt can be herd (Non Diegetic) to build tension and make the atmosphere seem more scary. A door shutting can also be herd later on in the scene (Diegetic sound). There are also subtitles towards the end of the scene which are read out by the voice over (both Diegetic and Non diegetic) and the mood music becomes louder and more sound is added to it (Non-diegetic) crashes and bangs also become more frequent building up the action within the trailer (Diegetic sound)
Research and Planning: Call sheet
This is our call sheet for our actors and actresses for our teaser trailer. We used a status update on facebook to broadcast the auditions so whoever views it and is interested could contact me or Jessica. We thought it would be easier to use a status update as everyone can see it whereas if we used a poster it would be less sucsessful.
We narrowed it down to five people auditioning and we decided on sophie as the main actress, and another girl to be sophies friend in one scene. We also decided on a boy to act out his parts.

Research and Planning: Rough cut
This is our rough cut of our Teaser trailer, it is not finished yet but as you can see we have filmed in two locations, indoors and at the train station. We still need to film outside college, the scene where sophie is talking to her friend about splitting up with her boyfriend. We still need to add subtitles and sound to the trailer to complete our finishing touches. We changed some aspects of our trailer from the feedback we got from our audience feedback, for example, they said there is too much of sophie walking so we cut chunks out and made it more snappy.

Research and Planning: Scan of film poster
This is the draft of my film poster, it shows him stood looking at the stalker board holding a knife, which relates well to the film. The film name obsession at the bottom with the film info (director, producer) located underneath and the slugline underneath the film name.

Research and Planning: 2nd draft scan
This is the location and angle of my picture, as you can see its a close up of his face and he is holding a camera, ans sophie will be viewed in the camera lens looking scared.
I also need to take two other pictures to create another story at the bottom of my magazine.

Research and Planning: 2nd draft of film magazine
This is the second draft of my film magazine, as you can see I have changed the font and the colors of my text, I have also changed the location of my film title and sub stories, and I have made a banner at the top and bottom of the page. I have used boxes with text in and lines to separate the different stories. I have changed the location of my barcode and date/price.
I now need my picture and a background for my magazine and two small pictures for another story to complete it.
feedback would be appreciated :) thanks

Research and Planning: Audiance feedback
In class each group shew a rough cut of their Teaser Trailer to the class in order to get feedback on what they have done and to improve their work. Here is the feedback we got:
-Too many scenes showing walking
-Good plot
-Needs more action
-Show him more
-Too lengthy
As a result of our feedback, we have cut bits out and edited lots to make it shorter, we still have two more scenes to film outside college and some inside to add in, then we can put in our subtitles and our music.

Research and Planning: The strangers
The Strangers teaser trailer shows the different qualities of a house, before the scenes from the actual film are shown. I think this looks quite effective because it shows something different other than the film but it still relates to the films storyline and this way the audiance will get more of a feel for the film.
In our teaser trailer 'obsession' we are going to do a similar thing with ours. We are going to film three break up scenes before the scenes from the actual film takes place, to give the audience more of an idea on what our ideas are.

Research and Planning: SLR cameras
Today we took pictures in and around college using first SLR cameras and then digital cameras to compare the quality. We found that the SLR cameras had much better quality than digital ones have when they take pictures.
Digital cameras: blurry shots, red eye, out of focus, poor quality.
SLR cameras: no red eye, in focus, better quality and the pictures aren't blurred and you can clearly see more detail in the shots.
When taking our pictures for our magazine and film poster we will use the SLR cameras to take a better quality pictures.

Research and Planning: Film Magazine
This is my first draft production of my film magazine, i first choose the font I wanted to use on Da Font, then I wrote my film name and used a different simple font for my 2. I choose this because it highlights that its a film magazine because iv used the same connotations as what film magazines include. Then I thought of a slugline for my Magazine to locate under my title to hook the reader in and to match ot to actual film magazines, I modeled my magazine of 'Total Film' and used some of their ideas in my own work. I then finally included some sub stories like would be found on a magazine.
Next I am going to take my pictures and add the final touches and put my picture on!

Research and planning: Film poster title
This is the style of my poster title it is a typewriter style so it looks as if hes wrote it and it looks more like a stalker style and people will be able to know more about the film form the style of the title. The tag line is quick and eye catching and also says a little more about the film.

Research and Planning: Christmas holidays
Over the two week course myself and jessica took a visit to hyde train station to film more, we filmed sophie walking under the bridge and up the stairs looking over her shoulder as id she is being followed. We faced problems such as people passing by and the train coming in so on a few occasions we had to wait whilst they had gone to continue filming.
We also filmed sophie whilst a train was passing for the end scene in our teaser trailer and once again we had to wait for people to pass by, it was also a little tricky to set the camera and to hold it steady whilst filming her. We still need to film the break up scenes and some more outside college, which we have been unable to do because of the snow.
